Conference Room AV Systems
Conference Rooms can be designed for Presentation (one person to many), Collaboration (many to many) or both. Most conference rooms today require video conferencing. People must be able to walk into the room and display a laptop easily and start a video conference. Everything from the aspect ratio of the room (length vs width), to the lighting levels, and paint selection can affect the ability for people to use these rooms for their intended purpose – communication.

Conference Rooms are so common that people take them for granted and overlook issues that result in frustration. AV is frequently viewed hrough the lens of an equipment “grocery list”. Ironically, most of the issues end up related to design, rather than equipment. Here are a few ways to create better Conference Rooms:

Design lighting for video conferencing. This will have more impact than camera selection.

Consider glare. Glossy tables can cause face spotting. Glossy displays can cause glare hotspots.

Make it easy. Motion sensors to turn on. Directions on the display. Automatic switching.

Realize that audio is actually more important than video in videoconferencing and harder to get right.
